Breckenridge Ski Resort Opening Day

Opening Day: November 9th, 2018

Breckenridge Ski Resort typically opens early to mid-November but it is entirely dependent on weather.   Get in line early for the pre-opening party filled with breakfast treats, music, giveaways and some serious bragging rights.

 

Winter Premiers

Thanksgiving

It’s easy to be thankful when you’re spending the Thanksgiving holiday in Breckenridge.  Create your own holiday trot by going snowshoeing, skiing, snowmobiling or taking a historic tour.  Nearly every store, guided tour, activity and restaurant will be open Thanksgiving Day. Make reservations for dinners and guided tours well in advance and get ready to experience the most stress-free Thanksgiving you’ve ever had. Most of Breckenridge’s classic winter activities will start running in November.

Opening Dates for Winter Activities

  • Nov. 6 – Breckenridge Nordic Center opens
  • Nov. 8 – Good Times Snowmobiling opens
  • Nov. 16 – Breckenridge Ski Resort Alpine Coaster opens
  •  Nov. 17 – White Mountain Snowmobiling opens
  • Nov. 21 – Frisco Tubing opens
  • Nov.22 – Keystone tubing open
  • Dec. 1 – Gold Run Nordic Center expected opening
  • Dec. 8 – Good Times Snowmobiling and Dogsledding expected opening

Hiking and Snowshoeing

Breckenridge’s hundreds of miles of trails are always open.  This time of year, you’ll want to check the muddy meter to see which trails are ready to explore and which ones you’ll want to avoid.  It depends on snowfall, the higher trails will have more snow accumulation while those closer to town will not.  Get trail recommendations by using the Muddy Meter or stopping by the Breckenridge Welcome Center for their latest trail recommendations.

Guided Tours

Fat biking is one of the best ways to get around in the winter.

November is the perfect time to take advantage of guided tours that don’t rely on snowfall.

Fat Bike Beer & Distillery Tours
Take a casual winter ride through any conditions on a fat tire bike.  These bike’s wide tires give them plenty of grip in the snow.  Daily ours will take you through town and on to the Breckenridge Blue River Rec Path on your way to Broken Compass Brewery and the Breckenridge Distillery.

Guided Fly Fishing
Fly fishing is a year-round activity and our guides can provide all equipment, teach you the basics and guide you to their favorite spots.

Nordic Skiing & Snowshoeing

Historical Walking Tours

The Breckenridge Heritage Alliance offers daily historical tours that include mine tours, ghost tours, saloon tours and hikes with a historian.

Skiing & Snowboarding

Depending on conditions, the resort could have limited terrain open or they could have most of the 5 peaks open. If you’re staying on Peaks 7, 9 or 10, check in advance. The resort typically opens with Peak 8 as their first base area and starts expanding from there.

Horseback Riding
While sleigh rides will depend on snowfall, American Safari Ranch in Fairplay offers year-round horseback riding.

ATV Tours

Stay toasty while hitting the trails in an all-weather all-terrain vehicle.  These adventure mobile are perfect for November as they tour on dirt or snow and take you to 13,000′ without breaking a sweat.  The Sunset Wine Tour is almost guaranteed to give you breathtaking views worth toasting.

Ziplining

If you’re ready for some serious thrills Colorado Adventure Center Ziplines are open thru Thanksgiving. Bundle up and get ready for fun.
