All drinks will be served in event reusable r.cups
Breckenridge Oktoberfest is an event free of single-use plastic bottles and cups. For the first time this year, alcoholic beverages at Oktoberfest will be served in reusable cups designed by r.Cups. Once a guest finishes their drink, these sturdy cups should be dropped in designated bins, from which they’ll be taken to be washed and reused in the future. The r.cups are a sustainable option that eliminates waste to landfill and has a smaller carbon footprint than recycling. To stay hydrated, visitors are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles and refill at water stations located throughout the event footprint. This year’s event also includes a small sustainability fee that will be charged upon receiving a wristband. This fee supports all of the efforts to make the event more sustainable.
What do I do with my beverage cup when I’m done with it? Once you finish drinking out of your R.Cup, just drop it in a designated bin, so it can be collected by the R.Cups staff for future use.
Help us reduce single use plastic
Effective July 1, 2024, the Town of Breckenridge will enforce a new ordinance prohibiting the sale of single-use plastic water bottles less than one gallon within its jurisdiction. This landmark initiative aims to reduce plastic waste and promote environmental sustainability in our community. The ordinance comes as part of Breckenridge’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and to help the Town achieve its goal of 20% source reduction of municipal solid waste.
Vendor Sustainability
Food and drink vendors are required to participate in a compost program and all event operations are committed to recycling eligible materials.
Push for Public Transportation
Visitors and residents are encouraged to utilize public transportation to get around town throughout the event.
