What is different this year?
While attending the parade or any busy event should be up to every personโs individual comfort level, parade barricades are being moved into the street to create an expanded viewing area. Out of abundance of caution, smaller amusements that have traditionally been hosted in the past (pony rides, Red White and Blue water fight and face painting stations) are not taking place this year. Additionally, a portion of Main Street will be remain closed between Ski Hill and Adams Ave. until 6 p.m. to allow for extra distance between activities throughout the downtown corridor โ the rest of Main Street will be opened back up immediately following the parade.

Are town officials concerned about COVID-19?
Summit County has recently reached the goal of 70% of community fully vaccinated. Under public health recommendations, Breckenridge Town Council felt like it was time to bring the community together to celebrate with one our iconic events.

When and what roads will be closed?
Main Street between French and Park Ave. will close starting at 6:00am on Sunday, July 4. Those planning to be in town should plan on walking, biking and riding Breckenridge Free Ride whenever possible and try to be wherever you plan to celebrate by 9:30am on Sunday, July 4.

Where should I park?
Breckenridgeโs downtown parking lots are paid and traditionally fill up fast, guests should plan to arrive early and park in the same spot for the day. If possible, keep your car parked at your lodging property and take free lodging shuttles or the free bus into town.

Are there fireworks this year?
In 2019, The Town of Breckenridge Town Council passed an indefinite ban on public and private fireworks, regardless of the current weather trends, to align with safe environmental practices. Employees are encouraged to share this information with guests who may not be aware.

Can I bring my pet downtown for the 4th celebration?
Town officials strongly recommend leaving furry friends at home for their own safety and comfort as downtown is expected to be busy on July 4.

When does the parade start and how long will it last?
The Firecracker 50 Mountain Bike Race will lead off the parade at 9:30am The parade is expected to last until 11:30am The majority of Main Street will open after the parade โ Ski Hill to Adams will remain closed until 6:00pm.
