Breckenridge is for everybody to enjoy. No matter what your needs are, from wheelchair accessibility, to adaptive sports, there is something incredible for you to experience in Breckenridge. That’s why we’ve put together a list of accessible and adaptive activities in Breckenridge as your resource to getting the most out of your stay.

Museums & Arts

The Welcome Center on Main Street in Breckenridge during Summer

The Breckenridge Welcome Center on Main Street is the center for information on all things Breckenridge.

Boasting a children’s area and a fully accessible building with elevators, the Breckenridge Welcome Center and Museum are meant to be explored by all who visit town. The museum is open every day of the year with free admission.

Learn about one of Breckenridge’s founding fathers in his own fully accessible Victorian home.

Swimming, Ice Skating, & Fitness

With adult classes, kids’ camps, and a newly renovated facility, the recreation center has activities for all ages and abilities. The building is wheelchair accessible, boasts a lap pool equipped with a hydraulic lift, and a leisure pool with full ramp entry and rentable waterproof wheelchair.

Summer camp and after school camp have recreational therapists for children to assist with a multitude of needs. Private adaptive fitness classes also available with advanced notice.

Ice rink is wheelchair accessible.

Hiking:

Visit Isak Hartstone

The Trollstigen Trail to visit world-famous art-piece Isak Hartstone is a fully wheelchair accessible 48″ trail. The surface is smooth and made of compacted stone, free of roots, rocks and obstacles making it great for power wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs, and walkers. It has a maximum grade of 3% and offers two resting spots along the short trail. We invite people of all abilities to find the magic of Isak during the summer and fall, however the trail is NOT maintained in the winter. Snowy and icy conditions can be expected between December and May.

Other Accessible Summer Trails

Find ADA parking spaces at the Minnie Mine and Reiling Dredge trail heads.

Visit the historic Reiling Dredge trail to explore a former gold mining location, which has two designated ADA accessible parking spots and smooth compacted trail surfaces with rest areas. There are also interpretive signs of the mining history. Another great option is the Sawmill Reservoir, which will have two accessible parking spaces as of fall 2024, and a flat, wheelchair-friendly trail with multiple rest areas.

Cycling

Adaptive bikes available for rent, must reserve in advance.

Tandem bikes available for rent.

Parks & Camps

Epic Discovery is full of different activities for all abilities!

Between the Gondola, ziplines, Jeep tours, bungee trampolines, Gold Runner Coaster, Alpine Slide, Colorado Chair scenic ride, and Breck Flyer Zipline, there are rides available for all abilities. Provide Breckenridge Resort with at least 72 hours notice for best accommodations.

Activities available for all abilities and ages during the summer and winter seasons.

Activities range from adaptive ski and ride schools, adaptive yoga, canoeing and kayaking, whitewater rafting, rock climbing, ropes courses, and more. BOEC offers incredible adaptive specialty camps for those with: MS, brain injuries, Parkinson’s, sensory processing disorders and autism, developmental disorders, and veterans who suffered injuries. BOEC also specializes in creating customized programs for private groups. Camps and customized programs require an application process and advanced planning, contact BOEC for application details.

Rafting

Will accommodate any ability level with advanced notice.

Frame ore rafts available.

Guests must be able to brace with their arms, must provide advanced noticed.

Tours

In addition to their complimentary museums, the Heritage Alliance can also organize customized historical tours.

Learn firsthand about Breckenridge’s gold history as you go 1000 feet into a mine. Entire tour is wheelchair accessible but the site can get muddy.

Experience Georgetown’s mining history in one of their accessible train cars.

See scenic Leadville on one of the train’s many tours. This train can accommodate walkers and wheelchairs though advanced notice is recommended.

Fishing

With wheelchair accessible streams nearby, Breckenridge Outfitters can teach any ability level how to fly fish.

Horses

Right in town, Breckenridge Stables will guide you through beautiful trails on the Ten Mile Range. For summer trail rides, guests must be able to support themselves on a horse. During the winter, sleigh rides are available for all abilities.

Get your cowboy on at this working cattle ranch in Kremmling, CO. Guests must be able to support themselves and command horse.
