Get Outside

Relax and take in the views on a Sleigh Ride with Breck Stables.

Private Sleigh Ride: Its winter and that means it’s the perfect time for a private sleigh ride in the heart of the Rocky Mountains! Breckenridge Stables offers scenic rides with great views of the Ten Mile Range and the Continental Divide. Hot chocolate and blankets included! If you are willing to drive a few miles down the road to Frisco, Two Below Zero offers private dinner sleigh rides amidst snow-capped mountain views and starry night skies. Their drivers will welcome you and fellow guests aboard the draft mule-team-driven sleighs and provide heavy blankets to warm you for the 20-minute ride. Upon arrival at the back country camp, the old-fashioned fun continues inside a cozy lantern-lit, heated tent. Your evening includes a hearty three-course, home-cooked meal with live musical entertainment.

Cross country ski or snowshoe with a picnic: If you are looking to be a little more active, try renting cross country skis or snowshoes at Breckenridge Nordic Center or the Gold Run Nordic Center. Before you go, grab your blankets and stop by Ridge Street Wine to pick up some wine, cheese and chocolate for a picnic in your own little snow globe.

Nordic Snowcat Adventure: Join Breckenridge Nordic Center’s fun-loving staff in one of their state of the art snowcats. The all glass cabins are perfect for experiencing historic Legend forests in heated comfort with a stop for s’mores and hot chocolate at one of their destination huts.

Sledding at Carter Park: A day playing in the snow is a free way to enjoy the outdoors while giving your legs a break from skiing. Grab your toboggan, saucer or any slider or glider of your choice and get ready for a fun day of sledding at the Carter Park Sledding Hill. The sledding hill is free for all to use and is a perfect afternoon activity for you and your significant other to feel like kids again.

Fat Bike Beer and Distillery Tour:

Guided fat bike tours are becoming a more popular way for beginners to learn the sport and for more advanced riders to find good trails. There are even guided fat biking distillery and brewery tours and Beer & Bike Tours for those looking to skip the woods and enjoy a scenic ride through town.

After a big day playing in the snow, head out for a night on the town and try some of Breckenridge’s Most Romantic Restaurants. Many of Breckenridge’s restaurants are on OpenTable, and we suggest booking ahead of time, especially for Valentine’s Day. If you are going to a restaurant that doesn’t accept reservations, plan to arrive a little earlier than normal and expect a wait.

Flowers, wine, chocolate and jewelry: We can’t forget about the “Four Horseman of Valentine’s Day!” These are the staples of any successful Valentine’s Day! For flowers call BloomPetal & Bean or just swing by City Market and make your own arrangement. Add a trip to Ridge Street Wine (actually on Main Street) to pick up wine and chocolate. Take a walk down Main Street and surprise you special someone with a unique piece of Jewelry from a Breckenridge jewelry store.

Cap it off with dinner: Embrace the time honored tradition of the Valentine’s Day dinner! Breckenridge offers a fine selection of nice restaurants for all budgets. Many restaurants will be offering Valentine’s Day deals so make sure you grab a Summit Daily (free local newspaper) from one of the blue boxes all over town. Take a Haunted Tour at Night

Up for taking a trip back through time? The Breckenridge Heritage Alliance is offering their special Historic Walking Tour and Victorian Tea with “Katie Briggle” on Saturday, February 15th from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Bring the family for a fun living history tour through Breckenridge’s’ nationally recognized Historic District with leading lady & local expert- Katie Briggle. This exciting tour will take you back to the turn of the century where you will learn about what life was like in mining town. At the end of the tour, Katie will serve tea and homemade treats at her Victorian home. Cost is $15 for Adults and $10 for Children (ages 4-12). Reservations are required and can be made at the Welcome Center or by calling the Breckenridge Heritage Alliance’s reservation line at 970-453-9767 x2.

Express Your Creative Side

Let your creativity express your love by joining Ready, Paint, Fire for their adults Canvas Party on Valentine’s Day evening in their Breckenridge studio for “Footsie” and also on Saturday the 15th night for “Flowering Hearts”. Children will enjoy the Kid’s Art & Crafts time at Art Supply Breckenridge on Sunday, February 16th from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
