The first weekend in December begins Breckenridge’s annual transformation into a sparkling holiday scene. Participate in the Lighting of Breckenridge & Race of the Santas, where hundreds of jolly look-alikes race and watch as Santa uses his magic to light up the town for the season.

3:45pm - Holiday Dog Parade

Dogs who’ve made Santa’s nice list are welcomed to parade Santa down Main Street in Breckenridge’s Holiday Dog Parade!

Details:

3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. — Parade Registration
Gather in Main Street Station with the dogs before the Holiday Dog Parade. There will be light refreshments, free Santa dog costumes for people who would like to join in the parade and lots of fun photo opportunities!

3:45pm. — Holiday Dog Parade
The Holiday Dog Parade will march down Main Street from Main St. Station to the Blue River Plaza. Anyone is welcome to join with their pet, as long as all dogs are in the holiday spirit and friendly with others. No Scrooges, please.

4:30 p.m.   Dog Viewing Party of The Lighting of Breckenridge
Everyone from the parade will gather near the bottom of Washington Avenue in a special sectioned-off area to watch the Race of the Santas come down Main Street and gather together in the Blue River Plaza for more fun. Many people will surely want to take pictures with the dogs (and you too!) so everyone is welcome to stay until the lighting of the town tree at 5:00 p.m.

4:20pm - Reindeer Run

All kids 12 and under are welcome to participate in this year’s Reindeer Run! All kids participating in the race will receive free reindeer antlers before they run down Main Street to the cheers of hundreds of people.

4:30pm - Race of the Santas

There’s no better way to get into the holiday spirit than joining hundreds of Santas in a race through Breckenridge.Join us as hundreds of holiday enthusiasts of all ages, dressed in festive costumes, race down historic Main Street, Breckenridge. We encourage those who can withstand the thin mountain air to start at the front of the pack, as the top finishers will be awarded Ullr helmets and prize packages. Not a runner? Walk, jog or skip through the 6-block course. Children dressed in holiday costumes are welcome to join their parents in the Santa Race. So come out and show your support, all proceeds benefit the Breckenridge Boy Scout Troop 187. Race suits will be available for $10. There will not be a deluxe suit package this year.

Santa Suite:  Bring your own holiday costume or purchase one at the Breckenridge Welcome Center or Verticle Runner starting November 1st: $10 for Race of the Santas Suits. Course Description:  .75 miles down Main Street Breckenridge

5:00pm - Lighting of Breckenridge

Santa makes an early visit to Breckenridge to light the Town Tree. Don’t miss the moment when Breckenridge turns on the lights and turns up the holiday spirit as Santa flips the switch in the Blue River Plaza just outside the Breckenridge Welcome Center at 203 S Main Street.

5:30pm - 7:00pm Meet Santa

Visit with Santa at the Barney Ford Museum, 111 E. Washington Ave. Let the little ones share their Holiday wishes with Santa and take a photo in the beautifully decorated Barney Ford House!
