Each Independence Day, we kick off the Breckenridge 4th of July party with a 10K trail run, followed by the Firecracker 50 mountain bike race and the Main Street parade. Family activities, live music, and a performance by the National Repertory Orchestra. Don’t miss Breckenridge Creative Arts’ “Street Arts: Patriotica!”, which celebrates street, pavement and graffiti arts with outdoor murals, installations, workshops and pop-up art. Breckenridge’s 2018 Independence Day Celebration will take place on July 4th.

Independence Day Celebration - July 4
7:00 a.m. – Independence Day 10K Trail Run
This scenic 10k trail running race offers up some of the best views in the Breckenridge area, while finishing just in time to catch the Main Street parade and other festivities. This race is limited to 400 people and usually sells out in June! Start and finish at Carter Park.
9:30am Start – The Firecracker 50 Mountain Bike Race
This mountain bike race launches the Breckenridge 4th of July Parade in front of thousands of spectators. Come cheer on riders as they embark on a 50-mile journey on the beautiful trails in and surrounding the Breckenridge area. Race will take place on Main Street starting at 9:30am.
9:00am – Breckenridge 4th of July Garden Party
Annual Breckenridge Heritage Alliance Garden Party at the Barney Ford House Museum. Enjoy coffee, mimosas, and breakfast spread as you watch the Breckenridge Fourth of July parade in style from the best view on Main Street. Call 970.453.9767 x 2 for pricing and more information.
10:00am-around 12:00pm – Main Street Parade
The official parade will start at 10am with the Red, White and Blue Color Guard. Firecracker 50 Mountain Bike Race will lead off the parade at 9:30am & it will take 800+ riders ½ hour to get down Main Streets in waves. Reading of the Declaration of Independence by George Washington (C.J. Muller) – Following the parade in the Blue River Plaza.

Try out your skills at drumming. Join in on the circle to test out your musical talents. Fun for the whole family.

Kids’ can join the Red, White & Blue Fire Dept. in an old-time water fight on Main Street. Free for kids to participate. A hit every year.

12:00pm-6:00pm – Street Arts Festival
A celebration of street, pavement and graffiti arts that will feature a weekend of 3D murals, chalk drawings, live music and hands-on workshops at the Breckenridge Arts District campus. This year, the must-see attraction is the Barder Boat on the East patio of the Old Masonic Hall.

4th of July Patriotic Concert – For almost 20 years, the Town of Breckenridge and National Repertory Orchestra (NRO) have collaborated to present a Patriotic Concert each July 4th at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge, CO. In order to prevent numerous empty seats due to unused free tickets and in order to offer tickets online at a greater convenience to all of our guests, the Riverwalk Center Box Office will sell indoor reserved seat tickets.

Your kids will have a blast playing at the Blue River Plaza Fun Zone! Get ready to play all day in the bounce house, massive trampoline and water balls zone in Blue River Plaza. There is a charge for each amusement.
July 7 – The Wizard of Oz – Film with Live Orchestra
Follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Riverwalk Center and experience the Oscar®-winning classic The Wizard of Oz on a giant HD screen as the National Repertory Orchestra performs the score live. Every scene of this movie’s timeless enchantment is enriched with the unique glories of a live orchestra. Fun for all ages and costumes are encouraged!

35th Annual July Art Festival
The 35th Annual Breckenridge July Art Festival is annually ranked one of the top art shows in the United States. This established show will feature over 100 artists from around the country. Artists will present ceramics, mixed media, fiber, jewelry, painting, wood, glass, sculpture and much more! You won’t want to miss this fabulous summer weekend of art and mountain ambiance.
Location: Main Street Station at the corner of Main Street and South Park Ave.
In-town paid lots will be available for guest parking (F-Lot, Tiger Dredge, East Sawmill, and Wellington lots). The Breckenridge FreeRide bus system will service the Satellite Lot and Ice Rink lot on regular scheduling. For free overflow parking, guests can park at Colorado Community College on the north end of town and the FreeRide bus services this lot every 20 minutes throughout the day.
Celebrate Independence Day in Breckenridge with lively entertainment, free activities and dynamic family fun. The Breckenridge 4th of July celebration kicks off with a 10K trail run and continues throughout the day with the Firecracker 50 bike race leading the vibrant Breckenridge 4th of July Parade on historic Main Street, July Arts Festival, live music, kids’ activities, concerts and so much more. End the night with the National Repertory Orchestra performing a patriotic concert at the Riverwalk Center at 8:00 pm.
Parade registration is now closed. For day of registration please meet us at 8:30am for Parade Staging.
Parade line up begins at 8:30 a.m. on July 4th.
- All participants need to line up on North Main Street between Watson & French.
- Vehicle access is from the north only. Please enter in at the intersection of French St. and Main St.
- The parade is First In-First Out, meaning you will go in the parade in the order you came into the staging area.
- If you want to be done sooner, we recommend staging early for the parade (arrive at 8:30am)
- If you would like to be with a group of others during the parade, please come in together. The staging area gets very tight and there is not room to move around once you come into the staging area.
Breckenridge Police Officers and the Parade Officials will be monitoring these guidelines throughout the parade.
Failure to comply will result in your removal from the parade.
- Please, no alcohol on the float. This includes both passengers and the driver. The Breckenridge Police Department will be monitoring this.
- The driver of a vehicle must be licensed and sober
- Floats cannot be higher than 16”- the Main St. Banner is the lowest point along the route (at Lincoln and Main St.)
- Fireworks of any kind are prohibited on the floats.
- Shooting the crowd with water guns, water balloons, or throwing snow is prohibited
- Please hand candy out rather than throw it from the vehicle. There have been cases where items thrown in a parade have struck and injured spectators and we want to do what we can to minimize those risks.
