Breckenridge Workshops and Classes

Colorado Mountain College

Colorado Mountain College offers credit classes during fall, spring (beginning in January) and summer semesters. Now that it’s an accredited, four-year college, it provides a catalogue of plenty of academic classes, from accounting to English, and nutrition to psychology or yoga. Colorado Mountain College also offers mountain-region specialty classes, from avalanche skills to resort management.

Plus, classes like photography or art can introduce a new hobby — or source of income. Computer classes, from basic to advanced, teach anyone technical skills necessary to thrive in today’s world. Classes tend to be intimate and taught by skilled, longtime locals. They range from a few hours or weeks to an entire semester long. Additionally, Colorado Mountain College’s continuing education classes provide a variety of experiences, from one-night cooking classes themed around a particular country’s specialty, to writing classes and long list of online offerings.

Breckenridge Arts District

The Breckenridge Arts District consists of renovated historic buildings, which house Breckenridge workshops designed to rev up your creativity. Breckenridge Create, an arm of the Town of Breckenridge, brings in nationally and internationally known resident artists to live at one of two art studios and hold open hours and special workshops. On any given day you can find at least a few different creative classes — everything from writing and painting to dance, jewelry making, collage a more. A dedicated hot shop supports metal smith work, while the ceramics studio brings tactile experiences to people learning to throw, or simply produce hand-crafted pieces.

The arts district hosts free community art talks, free visual art installation viewing and free art gallery walks. The organization also brings in nationally known musicians to the Riverwalk Center. In addition, its free festivals are not to be missed. For example, the Fire Arts Festival complements the International Snow Sculpture Championships, and the Breckenridge International Festival of Arts inspires kids and adults with aerial acts, innovation installations, dance and a mix of live music.
