Mission Possible: Do the Dew Tour in Breckenridge, Colorado

Mission Possible: Do the Dew Tour like a Pro

Pssst: Want the inside scoop? If you’re looking for the best views, best swag and best opportunities to party with the world’s best athletes, read on. We have the inside track for the Dew Tour in Breckenridge happening Dec. 13-16.

Not sure where to start? That’s easy. We’ve broken it down into a few easy “missions” for you.  And your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to complete all of the following, plus discover a few of your own.

Dew Tour in Breckenridge Missions:

You’ll find most of the action and the athletes at a few prime locations: Breckenridge Ski Resort on Peak 8, the new Washington Avenue streetstyle course in downtown and – the true secret – the Breckenridge Recreation Center where you’ll see just exactly how world cup athletes and Olympic medalists train.

The competition may begin on Thursday, but the athletes will be practicing on the mountain earlier in the week. So head up to the mountain on your skis or board and slide on over to the venue on Peak 8 on practice days to size up the competition and to scout out your spot for the finals. The Super Pipe and the Slopestyle venues are located conveniently next to each other, both of which are easily assessable by skis, boards, or on foot. Stake out a spot to watch at the bottom or side of the Super Pipe, because you can usually see competitors at the top of the slopestyle course by simply turning around. Yep, it’s the best “two for one” viewing bargain in town.

From now until the Dew Tour begins, take a peek at the person sitting next to you on that chairlift or gondola. The Dew Tour athletes typically arrive to Breckenridge as early as possible in the season to train and to ride that same soft powder-day goodness as you. That person riding the gondola with you might just be Chloe Kim, Olympic Gold Medalist. Don’t be afraid to say ‘hi’ and strike up a conversation.

If you want to check out the competition in advance, head straight to the Breckenridge Recreation Center. Almost all the Dew Tour athletes hit the gym in the weeks leading up to the Dew Tour Mountain Championships. Check out what Olympian Aaron Blunck had to say recently at the Rec Center. What’s better than riding the gondola with an athlete? Secretly checking out their workout tips.

Follow in the footsteps of hungry world-class athletes and fuel up at their favorite in-town spots: Downstairs at Eric’s, Empire Burger, Burke & Riley’s Irish Pub, the Blue Moose Restaurant for breakfast, and Crepes a la Cart. (But you didn’t hear that here.)  Downstairs at Eric’s has a variety of menu items, and you can catch a bite to eat without missing out on the action on their numerous TV’s. Empire Burger has a selection of burger and fries with dipping sauces that will make your mouth water and Burke & Rileys hosts a selection of sandwich options, sliders, and their famous jumbo chicken wings.  And the crepes at Crepes a la Cart are fan favorites of locals, visitors and athletes.

Don’t miss the Slopestyle event and the new Super Pipe course.

Arrive early, and besides getting to watch practice sessions, you can beat the crowds and score a primo parking spot. Head over to the Festival Village area at the base of Peak 8 with booths from a variety of ski and snowboard companies, along with event sponsors. Many of them have free swag, games and contests, and athlete autograph signing sessions. If you’re lucky, you may even run into the Dew Tour Yeti: now who doesn’t need a hug from a Yeti? Make sure to bring your camera.

After the on-mountain adventures, the party still continues. On Saturday night, head into town where The Motet will headline, with The Reminders and Luke Mitrani opening the Dew Tour concert on Saturday, December 15 at the Riverwalk Center in downtown Breckenridge. Doors for the all-ages show will open at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $40 and VIP tickets are $100.
VIP tickets include a meet and greet with the band prior to the show, a dedicated VIP bar, and a preferred VIP viewing area. See you at the Riverwalk Center!
