Gold Mine Tours

Breckenridge was founded by miners in-search of gold, and today visitors can catch a glimpse of the town's mining history through a tour of an authentic gold mine. The Country Boy Mine lets you explore the original workings of the mine as you feel, hear and smell what it was like to be a Colorado miner over 100 years ago. You can examine original mining equipment, old photos and fun exhibits to revisit the past. You pan for gold, climb on a steam shovel and experience the thrill of sliding down a 55 foot ore chute. Country Boy Mine offers tours year round.

Breckenridge's history began with gold and silver mining, and signs of its rich mining history are all over the town. Historic mine tours and walking tours of Main St. Breckenridge are also offered through the Breckenridge Heritage Alliance (summer only) at the Lomax Placer Mine and the Washington Mine. Call the Breckenridge Heritage Alliance for details and scheduled tour times at 800.980.1859 or visit www.breckheritage.com
