1. Enjoy The Views

Grab the whole family and take in the views of Breckenridge’s peaks.

October is a great time to take in the last of autumn’s golden aspen leaves as well as snowy mountain tops. There are hundreds of miles of trails in and around Breckenridge, so whether you’ve done your fair share of hiking or you’re new to the activity, you’re sure to find a trail that will meet your needs.  Trail accessibility will vary depending on weather and snowfall so be sure to check-out trail conditions before you go. Wondering where to hike? Here are our favorite easymoderate and difficult hiking trails throughout Breckenridge.

2. Take a Bike Tour

Hit the dirt and embark on a biking adventure this fall.

It’s no secret that fall rides are one of our favorite October activities! The cooler weather means you won’t heat up going uphill, the number of people on the trails decreases, and the views are hard to beat. If you want to stick to pavement, you can pedal around town or take a tour of the county on our bike path. If you’re looking for a bike ride with a twist, try out the beer and distillery fat-bike tour to sample brews and spirits from award winning local brewers and mixologists. Those who are more interested in taking in the views should sign-up for the Vail Pass Shuttle, a scenic downhill bike ride that drops you off at the top of Vail Pass and takes you back to Breckenridge after you arrive in Frisco.

 3. Hit The River

Breckenridge is a year-round destination for world-class fly fishing.

While fly-fishing is available year-round in Breckenridge, fall is one of our favorite times to fish. Spring runoff is unpredictable, and summer monsoons can drop heavy rains leaving fresh water rivers looking more like chocolate milk overnight. In the fall, the weather and water conditions can often be more stable, leading to a nice stretch of amazing dry fly fishing. Head out on your own or sign-up for a full or half-day guided tour to get geared up, transported, and taught the secrets of casting and catching by a local expert. Guided tours are available for those who are new to the sport, new to the area or those who are just looking for a good time!

4. Get Into The Halloween Spirit

Ready to get spooked? Celebrate Halloween in Breckenridge with an evening stroll through Breckenridge’s haunted historic district and learn about its dark past. Breckenridge is the home of multiple haunted ghost tours, cemetery strolls and historic tours that’ll give you goosebumps and get you in the mood for Halloween!

5. Taste Your Way Through The Afternoon

Did you know Breckenridge is home to the highest winery and the highest distillery in North America? Or some of the best breweries in Colorado? Drink local and head out to one of these libation stations for a behind the scenes tour, tasting, blending class, flight, or afternoon delight! If you love Breckenridge’s tasty concoctions, don’t miss the Breckenridge Craft Spirit Festival.  The event features small-batch distillers, artisan spirit seminars, a spirited cooking class, scavenger hunt, fine local cuisine and of course, plenty of sampling.

6. Hit the trails without breaking a sweat

There are plenty of ways to explore the trails without hiking boots or mountain bikes. From guided horseback riding tours to Jeep, ATV and UTV tours, there’s a way to get out there for every level of adventurer. Families with small children will enjoy off-roading adventures at 13,000ft, while those looking to mix adventure with romance can sign-up for a sunset tour overlooking the mountains.
