Labor Day Brings Art, Wine, Fun and Fundraising to Breckenridge, Colo.

BRECKENRIDGE, COLO. - Aug. 16, 2011 – Labor Day in Breckenridge, Colo. brings a weekend-long lineup of events including wine and art festivals, trail races, fundraiser events and more. Visit GoBreck.com for a complete schedule.

Great Rubber Duck Races – Sept. 3: For the 24th year, The Summit Foundation will drop some 10,000 rubber ducks into the Blue River for a fundraiser race that includes kids’, business and open categories. Prizes include a one-week vacation, pontoon boats on Lake Dillon, kids’ season ski pass and more. Funds raised support The Summit Foundation grant and programs. Those interested in volunteering for the Great Rubber Duck Race should call 970-453-5970.

Breckenridge Wine Festival – Sept. 3: The Breckenridge Wine Festival (formerly the Water House Wine Festival) combines vino from around the world with live music and food, all served up at the starting area for the duck races. Twenty-dollar tickets include entry, commemorative wine glass, 10 tasting tickets and one duck in the races, which start at Main Street Station. Proceeds support The Summit Foundation.

36th Annual Gathering at the Great Divide Art Festival – Sept. 3-5: A nationally-ranked art show, Gathering at the Great Divide features over 100 artists showcasing a variety of media including photography, wood, glass, ceramics and more. The three-day show takes place in the Wellington Lot, located at the intersection of Main Street and Wellington Road.

Breckenridge Merchants’ Sidewalk Sale Days – Sept. 2-5: Breckenridge’s merchants open their doors for a four-day sidewalk sale. Stock up in preparation for snow or scout for deals on summer wares. Over 150 shopping options give guests and locals plenty of retail choices.

Breck Crest trail races – Sept. 4: Marathon and half-marathon courses top out above treeline, and the five-mile course offers a shorter option. All routes feature stunning views from the peaks of the Tenmile Range. Aside from the start/finish sections, courses are on soft surface trails and service roads. Five dollars of each entry supports The Summit Foundation.
