Chef Matt Fackler set to open new Breckenridge Restaurant – Twist

Restaurant to Open on June 1st

BRECKENRIDGE, CO - Apr 19, 2011 – Breckenridge Chef and Restaurateur Matt Fackler is bringing a new restaurant to the scene this summer. Twist will open June 1, 2011 with an impressive patio, bar and dining room at 200 S. Ridge Street in Breckenridge.

Chef Fackler is bringing his own approach to everyday casual comfort foods to Twist. Each dish will be a little different than you may have experienced at home, with an exciting wine list containing nothing but small independent family owned wineries.

“We just wanted to bring another dining option to this town,” said Fackler. “ Casual and fun, but with an exceptional, quality statement”

Chef Fackler and his wife Lisa are veterans in the Colorado culinary scene. They currently own and operate the award-winning restaurant Relish, a 60 seat venue located in the heart of Breckenridge, featuring an eclectic menu, focusing on local, regional, and seasonal influences. Relish has appeared in travel magazines and newspapers world-wide as one of the best places to dine in Breckenridge.

Long-time Relish manager, Thomas Messerschmitt (T.J.) is partnering with Chef Matt and bringing his love of wine to Twist and will manage the new venture.

Chef Fackler started his distinguished culinary career at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY in 1989. After graduating in 1991, he spent time in Nantucket, Colorado, Florida, Chicago and North Carolina before moving to Breckenridge in 1996.

In the decade that followed, Chef Fackler was the sous chef for seven years at Café Alpine in Breckenridge. In May of 2004, he became the head chef of Ski Tip Lodge, an elite restaurant in Keystone, CO. In 2005, he was awarded chef-of- the -year by his peers and students that he instructed at the Culinary Institute in Keystone.

For those loyal Relish customers, no need to worry, Chef Clint Ketchum, Matt’s sous chef for the last four years will continue the tradition and quality that Relish has come to be known for. Diane Deedy, currently the assistant manager to Messerschmitt, will run the floor on a nightly basis.
