BRECKENRIDGE CELEBRATES HERITAGE AND INDEPENDENCE WITH NEW CRAFT SPIRITS FEST

BRECKENRIDGE, CO - Sept 24, 2010 – Colorado distillers will gather in Breckenridge, Colo. for a grand showcase featuring tastings of handcrafted spirits. Restaurant specials and a downtown pub crawl will compliment the festivities. The first of its kind in the state, the Craft Distillers’ Still on the Hill Festival (Oct. 15 – Oct. 16, 2010) was born of Colorado’s rapidly growing artisan spirits industry.

“In the spirit of camaraderie and appreciation for all the people that support us, we wanted to invite people to meet the small producers and taste the stuff made in local towns that people should be drinking,” said Jordan Via, master distiller at the Breckenridge Distillery. “Colorado has a festival for everything, and there’s nobody else in the state of Colorado (that we’re aware of) who’s doing a small distillers festival or any kind of similar event.”

In the spirit of artisan spirits and Colorado-born distilleries, Via and a handful of other distillers will celebrate 151 years of celebrating with the Still on the Hill Festival.

The Grand Tasting features several of Colorado’s most talented craft distillers. Taste handcrafted spirits at an informal, walk-around event hosted by Beaver Run Resort. Explore some of the tastiest liquor to grace the Centennial State, and converse with the people who made it. Saturday, Oct. 16: 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Dine for $18.59 specials, an homage to Breckenridge’s founding year, will be offered at restaurants throughout town. Friday, Oct. 8 – Saturday, Oct. 16.

The Downtown Poker Run & Pub Crawl lets players sample Breckenridge’s best drinks and pick up cards at each location. Best hand wins craft spirits at Saturday’s Grand Tasting. Poker Run & Pub Crawl: Friday, Oct. 15.

Lodging Specials starting at $96/night will be offered throughout the month of October as part of the Craft Spirits Festival and fall leaf-viewing season.

The Breckenridge Craft Spirits & Distillery Festival is a new annual event created by the Breckenridge Restaurant Association. For lodging information or reservations visit www.gobreck.com or call 877-593-5260.
