KIT DESLAURIERS TO SHARE TALES OF THE ARTIC REFUGE

Ski Mountaineer Featured in Breckenridge, Colo.

BRECKENRIDGE, CO - Sept 22, 2010 – World-renowned ski mountaineer Kit DesLauriers, the first person to climb up and ski down the highest peak on each of the seven continents, will come to Breckenridge, Colo. to share tales of her explorations through the 19-million-acre Arctic Refuge.

In “Journey Through the Arctic Refuge,” presented on Oct. 9 by The North Face and The North Face Breckenridge, DesLauriers will recount the journey of her team towing sleds across the frozen tundra, skiing the highest peaks in the region and taking in the incredible landscape that could be forever changed if the region is opened to oil drilling.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Riverwalk Center, located at 150 W. Adams St. in Breckenridge, Colo. DesLauriers’ presentation will be followed by Q&A and a book/poster signing.

A VIP reception will take place prior at 5:30 p.m. at The North Face Breckenridge, 322 S. Main St. The reception will include a meet and greet with DesLauriers, beer, wine and light food. All proceeds will go to the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center.
