BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. – Jan. 14, 2010 – Crowds lined Main Street for the 2010 Ullr Fest Parade, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. today in Breckenridge. More than 30 quirky floats were showcased in the wacky event that pays homage to Ullr, the Norse god of snow.

Thursday’s judges awarded first place honors to the Grand Lodge on Peak 7 and Ullr Schnapps for their float, “Ullr's Voyage to Breckenridge.” This float sailed through Breckenridge as a giant Viking ship in the quest for snow and living the lore. Second place was given to the Breckenridge Nordic Center celebrating their 40th anniversary with their float, “Nordic Skiing Gnome.” This float was a forest scene with tiki torches and a gnome igloo. Coming in a close third was Liquid Lounge and their float, “Live Life in Memory of Erik Peterson.” This float was a huge party on a giant black Viking ship.

A panel of judges ranked each float on creativity, theme/fun and workmanship. The judges agreed this year had some of the most creative floats ever seen in Breckenridge’s Ullr parade. Prize packages were donated by Budweiser, Breckenridge Ski Resort, Breckenridge Grand Vacations, KSMT the Mountain and Ullr Schnapps.

Other parade highlights included the annual Ullr streakers, the convertible carrying the Ullr King and Queen, Rob and Deb Neyland and plenty of creative Ullr characters.

For more information on Ullr Fest and Breckenridge’s upcoming events, the Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championships and Mardi Gras, contact the Breckenridge Resort Chamber at 877.593.5260. For those who built Ullr floats, keep in mind they can be easily retrofitted for the upcoming Mardi Gras parade.
