BRECKENRIDGE, Colo, - Jan. 8, 2009 – Crowds lined the street for the 2009 Ullr Fest Parade, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Breckenridge’s Main Street. More than 25 quirky floats were showcased in the wacky event that pays homage to Ullr, the Norse god of snow.

Thursday’s judges awarded first place honors to the Blue Sage Spa float, the Blue Sage Spa Synchronized Waxing Team. This float consisted of dancing waxers tearing the hair off very hairy people with a crowd of robed groupies. Second place was given to Grand Lodge on Peak 7 and Ullr Schnapps for their float, Ullr on Vacation, where spectators could see their own faces of Ullr on vacation on the giant Ullr head flat screen. Coming in a close third was Rob Theobald’s float, Ullr’s Lost Snow Mine and the Rabid Powder Seekers. This float doused the crowd with tons of snow. The Town of Frisco deserved an honorable mention for their float, Frisco BBQ Sacrifice, which had a tropical theme and a real roasting pig.

A panel of judges ranked each float on creativity, theme/fun and workmanship. Prize packages were donated by Breckenridge Grand Vacations, Breckenridge Resort Chamber, Breckenridge Ski Resort, Budweiser, KSMT and Ullr Schnapps.

Other parade highlights included tiny bikini streakers, the Breckenridge Resort Chamber float carrying the Ullr King and Queen, Robin and Patty Theobald and plenty of creative Ullr characters.
