We’ve all heard the speech from Grandpa: “back in my day, we didn’t have chairlifts to bring us up the hill--we had to climb up just to sled back down.” The age-old tradition of sledding is still alive and is (our favorite four-letter word) FREE. At Carter Park, grab your toboggan, saucer or any slider or glider of your choice and get ready to flash that child-like grin from top to bottom of the hill.

Carter Park is located at the south end of High Street, four blocks west of Main Street, adjacent to Breckenridge Elementary School. Please note that there is no sledding allowed at the Breckenridge Ski Resort.

You don’t have to ski or snowboard to enjoy Breck’s winter wonderland. The Breck Connection suggests other fun options for those who are not skiers or snowboarders. If you’re interested in more activities that are free or affordable, Breck on a budget will carve a trail of fun that wont break the bank.

Didn’t pack a sled? Snow tubes and sleds are available for purchase at local grocery stores:

City Market, 400 North Parkway
Food Kingdom, 311 South Ridge Street

For more information on what to do during the winter, contact the Breck Information Specialists at (877) 864-0868. While in town, stop by the Breckenridge Welcome Center at 203 S. Main Street.
