Lighting of Breckenridge: 12/4/2010

Delight in the holiday sprit with the lighting of Breckenridge. This old-fashioned celebration will fill your heart as locals and visitors gather together to celebrate the incredible winter wonderland of Breckenridge and embark on a magical holiday season.

During the celebration, our quaint Victorian town will take on the appearance of a holiday postcard, complete with wreaths, garland and lights galore. Join us with storytelling, holiday craft workshops, tastes of coco, cookies and the rejoice sounds of caroling. Santa Claus himself will join us to stroll down Main Street to the Blue River Plaza for the breathtaking annual town tree lighting.

The schedule for the Lighting of Breckenridge is as follows:

2:00pm - 4:00pm - Storytelling and Holiday craft workshop at the Red, White, and Blue Firehouse, 316 N. Main Street. Join local Fire-fighters for storytelling followed by a free craft workshop ideal for children 10 and under.

4:30pm - FREE Cocoa, cookies and caroling at Subway, 305 N Main Street.

5:00pm - Santa arrives in front of Subway (via horse-drawn carriage) to lead a procession to the Blue River Plaza (South Main and Washington) for the lighting of the Town Tree. All are welcome to Join in and walk the procession.

5:15pm - Tree lighting in the Blue River Plaza. The procession continues down Main Street to Main Street Station (505 S. Main Street).

5:30pm - 6:30pm - Visits with Santa at Main Street Station as well as photos with Santa thanks to Breckenridge Portrait Company.

While in town enjoy the spirit of the eclectic shopping and dining options. However you choose to spend the entrée to the holidays, you’ll be in the exquisite Breckenridge spirit!
